About the Role

Schumacher & Co. is seeking an analytical, organized, and product-minded Portfolio Development Manager to shape the company's product portfolio for the next 30+ years. This role sits at the intersection of design and commercial strategy, sharpening assortment decisions, strengthening data and processes for product launches, and bringing rigor to line planning and growth. You will partner closely with Design, Product Development, Sales, and Operations to move collections from concept through launch.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze SKU productivity data to inform assortment decisions, product priorities, and strategic assortment gaps to maximize return on launch costs.
  • Manage product development calendars, key milestones, and launch timelines across multiple collections.
  • Lead cross-functional check-ins, track deliverables, identify risks, and escalate delays or data gaps.
  • Coordinate the creation of new products and SKUs in the company’s ERP system & Product Information Management System.
  • Gather, validate, and maintain accurate product data, including classifications, attributes, dimensions, units of measure, vendor details, and other required fields.
  • Manage ERP updates throughout the product lifecycle, including new product setup, product changes, status updates, and discontinuations.
  • Maintain clear trackers and documentation for SKU creation, product updates, approvals, and launch readiness.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve data discrepancies, system issues, and incomplete product information.
  • Support data-clean-up initiatives and improve product setup, maintenance, and launch processes.
  • Support annual collection planning, including collection frameworks and SKU targets.
  • Partner with Design to allocate products across collections and balance creative vision with commercial potential.
  • Track product and pattern performance to identify portfolio gaps, redundancies, and opportunities.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in merchandising, product operations, assortment planning, product development, buying, planning, consulting, analytics or a related field.
  • Experience in home furnishings, textiles, interiors, luxury, fashion, retail, or another design-led, high SKU count industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience working with ERP, PIM, PLM, or other product-management systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, project-management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
