About the Role

The Early Education Specialist will manage a caseload and provide training and technical assistance to home-based childcare providers in Queens County, contributing to positive child and family outcomes and closing the achievement gap.

Responsibilities

  • Develop respectful and responsive relationships with childcare providers using positive interpersonal skills.
  • Partner with childcare providers to identify learning and communication styles.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and inclusivity in coaching relationships.
  • Complete assessments for 15 caseload providers using evidence-based tools.
  • Develop individualized coaching plans based on assessments and provider needs.
  • Conduct intensive site visits (2-4 hours each) for each provider.
  • Coordinate quality improvement services and resources for providers.
  • Evaluate provider progress through consistent documentation.
  • Explain and model the change process consistently.
  • Work with providers to set shared SMART goals for program quality improvement.
  • Use active listening and powerful questions to support provider self-expression.
  • Provide needed resources to programs within the caseload.
  • Support caseload providers with targeted on-the-spot solutions.
  • Connect providers with grants and other CHCF incentives.
  • Facilitate a minimum of two training/workshops per month.
  • Participate in and/or prepare for ECEI events.
  • Collaborate with CHCF inter-agencies as needed.
  • Maintain files and documentation for all program providers in the caseload.
  • Perform data entry and other reporting as required.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Contribute to an agency resource list for supporting services.
  • Participate in in-house professional development opportunities.
  • Keep certifications and credentials up to date.

Requirements

  • Full professional fluency in English and Spanish required (writing, reading, academic level).
  • Will complete the Aspire credentialing process within 6 months of hire.
  • Will complete the T-TAP credentialing process within two years of hire.
  • Commitment to co-teaching and co-learning.

  • Belief that child care providers are capable of achieving their goals.
