About the Role

Engineering Workshop Managers at Transport UK London Bus play a crucial role at the front line of delivering an efficient, safe and reliable bus network. This role involves full people management responsibilities for the engineering team and all workshop activities within the managed shift, ensuring health and safety and environmental policies are upheld.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all external contractors efficiently and safely.
  • Report discrepancies related to ISO 9001 system or HS&E policy to the Fleet Manager.
  • Conduct vehicle and staff quality inspections to ensure engineering maintenance meets Company/Engineering Policy standards.
  • Audit a minimum of 10% of the fleet each month and implement action plans.
  • Ensure all reported defects for vehicles/buildings/plant are resolved efficiently and effectively without impacting the service network or vehicle safety.
  • Monitor vehicle reliability, identify problems, and ensure successful remedial action to keep service failures within targets.
  • Report deficiencies in company Workshop/Depot plant and equipment to the Fleet Manager.
  • Maintain a proactive attitude towards non-compliance issues.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

Requirements

  • An excellent understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements for the safe operation of passenger carrying vehicles.
  • Level 3 qualifications in PSV maintenance and repair, or Level 2 qualifications with 5 years of recent PSV workshop experience in maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to lead by example, motivate, and develop teams to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Current vehicle inspector IRTEC license or ability to pass within the probationary period.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to mentor and develop individuals.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the business.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner.
