About the Role

The Hotel Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, management, supervision, and analysis of results from all Hotel Departments, reporting to the Director of Operations. This role involves managing and inspiring high-performing teams, ensuring smooth implementation of Meliá Hotels International procedures and policies, and aligning with strategic plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the Director of Operations in designing and implementing projects, programs, strategies, budgets, and action plans.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of projects, programs, strategies, budgets, and action plans to achieve established goals.
  • Analyze the Business Plan with the Director of Operations.
  • Analyze weekly results for accurate financial projections, occupancy-based staffing reports, and standards set for the hotel brand.
  • Ensure decisions and actions align with budget guidelines and goals to increase incomes, control costs, and identify areas of opportunity to achieve the business plan.
  • Identify deviation reasons/causes to resolve them.
  • Participate in budget development and monthly tracking actions to improve identified areas.
  • Assist with the analysis and participation in forecast meetings and Business Reviews.
  • Encourage teamwork and ongoing communication between all departments to ensure staff are aware of their goals, roles, and duties.
  • Encourage and guide the Head of Department and Executive Committee to increase employee satisfaction.
  • Continually support and develop managers, encouraging both short and long-term vision regarding departmental objectives, standards, and quality results.
  • Ensure leadership style of heads of department and management aligns with the organization's culture.
  • Participate in setting departmental goals, monitoring measures taken, and following up on action plans for each department.
  • Participate in union meetings and assist with union-related issues/tasks.
  • Promote training for all hotel staff, emphasizing professional development within the hotel structure and/or the company.
  • Assist with daily briefings and lead meetings.
  • Continually supervise and evaluate quality standards and the adequate maintenance and functionality of facilities, furniture, equipment, and cleaning.
  • Ensure proper security measures are taken for guests and team members.
  • Analyze, investigate, and develop action plans for customer service complaints.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in implementing the Business Plan and defining business strategy.
  • Assume responsibilities and decision-making for hotel operations.
  • Ensure all departmental areas comply with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Hotel Manager/Resident Manager role is mandatory.
  • Experience in a City Hotel is preferred.
  • Previous leadership within a Premium hotel is preferred.
  • University diploma/degree, preferably in Tourism (or equivalent Hospitality and Tourism studies).
  • International experience is preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of all department operations.
  • Demonstrated ability in Human Resources Management & Talent Development.
  • Knowledge of IT tools used in hotel management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • High geographical flexibility is preferred.
  • Able to reside in Berlin, Germany.
  • Must be part of the Hotel Management Talent Pool.
  • Must inform direct supervisor/Hotel Director and HR manager of interest in participating in the internal selection process.
