About the Role
As Content Lead at Dex, you will be responsible for writing and publishing all content associated with the company's name. Dex is an AI talent agent focused on senior software engineers. You will own Dex's channels, including the website, social media, email, events program, and blog. Your role involves taking an existing content strategy and transforming it into consistent, high-quality output. This position is ideal for someone who can write quickly and effectively, and who understands the importance of distribution, discoverability, and reader engagement beyond the initial draft. You will collaborate closely with the Marketing, Growth, Design, and Product teams, enjoying significant autonomy and minimal bureaucracy.
Responsibilities
- Own the publishing calendar across site, social, email, and the blog, determining content publication timing and order.
- Write across various formats including LinkedIn and X posts, campaign and event emails, landing pages, product and lifecycle copy, event pages and follow-ups, articles, and explainers.
- Plan content distribution strategies, considering where content will be read and optimizing for platforms like Hacker News and specific newsletters/communities.
- Write content adhering to SEO specifications, focusing on answer-first structure, extractable formatting, clean internal linking, and author entity pages, while also contributing to spec improvements.
- Repurpose commissioned long-form essays into a two-week cycle of channel-native content that avoids sounding like a direct repost.
- Manage the content and collateral for the event series, including pre-event, during-event, and post-event materials, as well as follow-up sequences.
- Track content performance metrics across owned blog and organic social media channels and report on key performance indicators.
- Utilize AI tools for research, outlining, structuring, initial drafts, repurposing, and quality checks, ensuring final content does not sound AI-generated and clearly defining the boundary between AI assistance and human authorship.
- Act as the primary guardian of the company's voice and tone, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in public communications based on established tone of voice and audience research.
Requirements
- 4+ years of writing experience, either in-house or at an agency, preferably for a technical or developer audience.
- Experience in a startup environment where building processes and output was necessary.
- Demonstrated range across content formats and lengths, supported by a portfolio of published work.
- Understanding of content distribution channels and audience consumption habits.
- Working knowledge of SEO and AI search content surfacing.
- Proficiency with AI tools for research, outlining, and iteration, with a clear understanding of the line between AI and human contribution.
- Commercial literacy, with the ability to link content to business outcomes and look beyond vanity metrics.
- Independent editorial judgment, capable of improving upon initial briefs.
- Proactive communication skills and ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
- Willingness to experiment with Dex's agent and provide feedback.
