About the Role
The Investment Risk Analyst – Risk Analytics & Modelling reports to the Head of Investment Risk For Private Markets. This role involves building and maintaining analytical infrastructure, risk models, and production reporting for investment and credit risk oversight. It combines risk domain knowledge with modern data engineering and analytics development skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production risk analytics, risk-owned datasets, and PowerBI dashboards, ensuring code quality, version control, data accuracy, and adherence to RAM development standards.
- Support risk model governance, including annual model appropriateness review and monthly VaR backtesting.
- Provide analytical support for new mandate and instrument onboarding, configuring risk analytics and validating outputs.
- Collaborate closely with Technology to progress data and platform requirements through the software development lifecycle.
- Support the wider Investment Risk team in producing periodic risk reports and dashboards.
- Undertake ad hoc risk analysis in response to queries from Investment Risk Specialists, fund management, or client/sales teams.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in an investment risk, investment quant analytics, risk technology, or technical business analyst role within financial services.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in production-quality code, data pipelines, query optimization, and working with large datasets.
- Experience with version control (Git/Azure DevOps) and disciplined development practices.
- Understanding of investment risk concepts: VaR, stress testing, credit risk metrics, leverage, and performance attribution.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technology teams through the development lifecycle, writing business requirements, participating in solution design, and leading UAT.
- Background in asset management, quantitative finance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of financial markets and fixed income products.
