About the Role

The core role is covering financial services legislation and regulation, with a focus on the UK. MLex seeks to get ahead of the procedural story through deep-dive analysis of current and emerging trends to anticipate where regulatory risks may lie. It’s a high-pressure beat in which there’s an expectation that you’ll break market-moving news while offering the forward-looking insight that helps inform decision-makers.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and interviews, turn around urgent copy and write to deadline
Identify stories that appeal to the readership. Use expertise to write big-impact investigations and commentary pieces
Support senior journalists and editors by researching news stories or preparing information for coverage
Understand and explain complex regulatory or policy topics, exercise strong news judgement and ensure attention to detail

Requirements

Great reporting, media or publishing industry experience or knowledge
Collaborative approach with the ability to work across international teams
Commitment to producing high-quality, accurate reporting
Newsroom experience, ideally from covering financial services regulation
