About the Role
The Head of Policy & Influencing shapes and delivers the Foundation’s policy and influencing strategy within the Impact on Urban Health directorate. This role leads parliamentary and government engagement strategies, provides strategic oversight of influencing work, and drives a unified urban health influencing strategy. The position builds and maintains stakeholder relationships, acts as a spokesperson, supports senior leadership, oversees budgets, and manages a team, ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion are embedded in all influencing activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver parliamentary and government engagement strategies across all issue areas.
- Provide strategic oversight of programmatic influencing strategies, ensuring a coherent approach across all programmes.
- Lead the cross-programme urban health influencing strategy.
- Provide high-level strategic advice on programmatic influencing strategies and influencing partnerships.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to create partnership opportunities and act as a spokesperson.
- Support senior leadership with stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee budgets for programmatic policy and influencing work.
- Deputise for the Director of Policy, Influencing & Communications as required.
- Line manage Policy & Influencing Managers and the Policy & Convening Manager.
- Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into all policy and influencing activity and support cross-organisational DEI work.
Requirements
- Significant experience in public affairs and policy within a UK setting, with demonstrable impact on policy making in Westminster Parliament and/or devolved administrations.
- Experience leading teams to deliver impactful influencing strategies.
- Experience working across a broad policy brief and quickly developing expertise in different policy areas.
- Experience developing and managing budgets.
- In-depth understanding of the UK political environment and Government operations.
- Expertise in public policy, ideally in health equity or social justice issues.
