About the Role

Promote, embed, and deliver a safe and inclusive culture within Men's Football, focusing on Youth Academy sites. Support the development, implementation, and review of safeguarding systems to protect children and young people. Act as deputy to the Head of Safeguarding, overseeing compliance, delivering training, and mitigating risks.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead safeguarding contact for Men’s Football and the Academy, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Represent Safeguarding within the Academy Leadership structure, shaping safeguarding priorities and player welfare initiatives.
  • Lead on safeguarding investigations, managing concerns and working with external agencies.
  • Deliver safeguarding education and training programmes for various stakeholders.
  • Provide safeguarding leadership for Academy tours and trips, including risk assessments.
  • Manage safeguarding compliance and audit activity, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Deputise for the Head of Safeguarding and drive strategic projects, including policy development.
  • Support safer recruitment and safeguarding risk management across the club.
  • Uphold high standards of conduct to prevent abuse and keep updated with safeguarding training.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification in Safeguarding.
  • Best-in-class emotional intelligence, empathy, self-awareness, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Creative and solutions-focused thinker with a proactive and innovative approach.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with children, young people, adults at risk, and their families.
  • Trusted safeguarding practitioner with significant experience in managing concerns and investigations.
  • Exceptional communicator and influencer, able to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with senior representatives from statutory agencies.
  • Analytical and operational mindset, experienced in training delivery, policy implementation, and data analysis.
  • Must complete a DBS check and other essential background checks.
  • Must uphold high standards of conduct to prevent abuse.
