About the Role
The Crown Estate manages a diverse property portfolio, and its geospatial capability is critical for strategic decision-making and asset stewardship. This role focuses on delivering routine geospatial tasks, including data capture, map production, and quality assurance, supporting transactional and operational business processes. It's an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to gain experience across various GIS technologies and datasets.
Responsibilities
- Deliver routine mapping, data-processing, and standard geospatial analysis tasks.
- Support transactional GIS tasks for legal transactions and asset management.
- Undertake proximity checks to identify spatial implications of new developments.
- Maintain accurate geospatial datasets and ensure data quality standards.
- Produce maps, plans, and spatial outputs according to specifications.
- Review and extract spatial information from various sources.
- Complete quality-control checks and correct errors.
- Maintain accurate casework records and file structures.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Provide feedback on process improvements.
- Organize allocated work and escalate risks promptly.
- Monitor and support the GIS request intake process.
- Undertake other defined operational GIS activities.
Requirements
- Practical experience using GIS for data capture, update, check, and presentation.
- Ability to create maps and deliver basic spatial analysis and visualizations using GIS software.
- Familiarity with the ESRI ArcGIS platform, particularly ArcGIS Pro.
- Understanding of spatial data concepts (coordinate systems, data quality, metadata).
- Ability to communicate clearly, ask appropriate questions, and explain GIS outputs.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively, take ownership, demonstrate initiative, and problem-solve.
