About the Role
This senior leadership role collaborates closely with Sales and Marketing to drive strategy, planning, and execution for the Japan sales area. The Senior Manager, Marketing is the single point of contact to the Sales leadership team, owning strategic marketing, planning, project management, and execution. As a People Manager, this role involves establishing operational objectives, developing policies, and leading a team of marketing professionals to execute the regional strategy, playing an integral part in the senior leadership of NetApp Japan.
Responsibilities
- Lead work through marketing professionals, establishing operational objectives, policies, procedures, and work plans, and delegating assignments.
- Understand market data and analyze Japan area market opportunities and challenges; build and align the Japan area marketing strategy.
- Act as the single point of contact to the sales leadership team in Japan, communicating needs between Sales and marketing teams.
- Support the planning and execution of relevant Sales plays with local Field leaders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the marketing organization to create a joint marketing plan for the area.
- Drive the strategy and success of larger projects contributing to multiple areas of the organization.
- Manage, allocate, and own the budget for the Japan area.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts, learn from successes and failures, drive best practices, and enhance overall marketing performance.
- Apply knowledge to convince other stakeholders on desired departmental outcomes and interact regularly with management.
Requirements
- Proven experience navigating the sales-marketing interlock, building trust, establishing credibility, and collaborating with a seasoned sales organization.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to influence others in sensitive, complex situations while preserving relationships.
- Ability to work on issues requiring conceptual thinking and in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
- Speed in execution and strategic decision-making to adapt quickly as the business requires.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills to maximize opportunities for growth and profitability.
- Problem-solving capabilities, ability to see the big picture, and alignment to sales and marketing opportunities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple teams and business units.
- Teamwork and collaboration with other Marketing & PR functions to create fully integrated plans.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and influence in a matrix organization while building trust and credibility.
