About the Role
The Implementation & Activation Director is a leadership role overseeing operational excellence and responsible for all day-to-day output that delivers effective campaigns, ensuring best-in-class consistent implementation, optimisation, and reporting. This role involves the application and oversight of specialist technical skills, leadership, and strategic vision, working closely with the Head Of and Client Partner to produce best-in-class solutions, offer unparalleled service, and deliver against targets.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a critical senior point of contact with the client for Implementation Planning & Activation.
- Offer expert perspectives and POVs on recent market trends or developments, ensuring they are shared with key stakeholders regularly.
- Meet with vendors and partners to drive the client's agenda, creating opportunities for team members to engage.
- Focus on building the agency's outstanding client service reputation.
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of clients' in-scope services and the process for completing work above and beyond.
- Provide innovative strategic insights by acting as an expert on the client's business, industry, and competitors.
- Bring innovation and creativity to the table, leveraging market insights.
- Adhere strictly to activation commitments with client contract associations when required.
- Lead the construction and presentation of effective and future-facing Implementation plans and negotiation strategies grounded in strategic priorities and data-led optimisation recommendations.
- Articulate and train others on media principles and how each media touchpoint can fuel client growth.
- Identify and lead product innovation opportunities for clients.
- Collaborate with internal WPP Media teams to articulate the benefits of their inclusion, focusing on converting growth opportunities.
- Seek, communicate, and implement improvements in all aspects of the role.
- Oversee the overall delivery of client campaigns & KPIs with flawless accuracy.
- Support state and national craft leaders in identifying and implementing tools, technology, data, and automation solutions, ensuring maximum adoption of best practices.
- Motivate and empower the team to achieve individual, team, and organizational goals.
- Conduct 1:1s, Career Conversations, and Performance Reviews with direct reports.
- Liaise with the People Team to resolve team disputes and ensure a safe and productive environment.
- Continuously champion company values to build strong and trusted connections and demonstrate care for collective team success.
- Foster knowledge sharing and continuous learning around POVs, trends, and relevant skills.
- Identify, collate, and showcase examples of great work from within the team.
- Build the agency’s reputation by contributing to awards, competitions, and industry thought leadership.
- Actively contribute to new business development and pitching as needed.

- Strengthened key stakeholder relationships to deliver great teamwork consistently within 6 months.
- Taking on greater ownership for campaigns and clients – responsibility and volume – within 12 months.
- Building strong relationships with publishers, representing the agency team appropriately, and ensuring campaigns are delivered to the highest quality within 12 months.
