About the Role
NESO is seeking a skilled and experienced Data Catalogue Lead to own and manage Data Catalogue development and implementation, ensuring compliance with Data Best Practice and internal Data Policies. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to identify and document Data Assets, aiming to create a centralized, searchable inventory for enhanced visibility and transparency. The Lead will provide subject matter expertise in metadata capture, support requirements gathering for the Enterprise Data Catalogue tool, and evolve the catalogue as a control against Data Risks.
Responsibilities
- Ongoing management of Data Catalogue, ensuring alignment between business and technical metadata.
- Management of Data Dictionary and Business Glossary, defining key terms and supporting information.
- Application of data governance frameworks, including GDPR compliance and Ofgem Data Best Practice.
- Collection and categorization of functional and non-functional requirements for the Data Catalogue tool.
- Ensuring Data Catalogue documentation (Process Guide, Standard Operating Procedure, Roles and Responsibilities) is up-to-date and reflects enterprise data ambition.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in a data-related field or equivalent work experience in Data or Metadata Management.
- Demonstrable experience and best practice knowledge of structuring, curating, and managing the Data Catalogue, Data Dictionary, and Business Glossary.
- Experience with modern Data Catalogue tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with proven ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data management best practice and standards.
- Technical knowledge and experience for effective engagement with data specialists, architects, and engineering teams regarding metadata management.
- Comfortable explaining metadata and catalogue concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying process and artefact gaps or enhancements.
- Ability to lead and facilitate discussions across functional teams, resolve complex requirements, and develop practical solutions.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Awareness of energy industry challenges and the role of data in addressing them.
- Right to work in the UK.
