About the Role

As Director, Institutional Client Group Coverage (ICG) within Corporate & Institutional Banking, you will collaborate with the Head of ICG to execute the business's five-year growth strategy. You will partner with leaders in coverage and product to strategically expand the client base with high-potential clients, leading a team of bankers to drive business performance and growth. This role offers exposure to HSBC’s global network and significant career opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and redefine the strategy for ICG to grow business in the Institutional space across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Analyze meeting revenue and return targets through in-depth analysis of products contributing to client revenues and the importance of driving ancillary revenues.
  • Drive appropriate behaviors for recording activities and managing data related to client engagement, revenues, and balance sheet usage.
  • Collaborate with management, product owners, and colleagues locally and globally to achieve optimal outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Promote professional and career development of team members, equipping them to build client relationships and product expertise.
  • Supervise activities across client engagement and portfolio management.
  • Promote a strong speak-up culture, including identification and management of business risks.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Institutional / Financial Institutions banking (Coverage or Product) at Director level.
  • Experience covering public sector, insurance, and NBFI sectors, understanding their pain points and positioning HSBC as a solution provider.
  • Proven ability to develop substantial business across a full range of products.
  • Consistently meet and exceed client expectations through superior service.
  • Identify cross-sell and business growth opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and exercise influence internally and externally.
  • Track record of building and developing successful long-term client relationships, including with key decision-makers.
  • Develop a multi-dimensional strategic dialogue.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and drive top performance through coaching and mentoring.
  • Regular check-ins and a focus on risk excellence.
  • Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Exposure to global markets and the impacting regulatory environment.
  • Excellent portfolio management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
  • Preference for candidates with Australian or New Zealand PR/Citizenship or unrestricted work rights in Australia.
