About the Role
GFT is seeking an experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our Transportation Group in the tri-state (NY/NJ/CT) area. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our NYC, NJ, or CT offices. Working on the transportion team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity.
Responsibilities
- Design highway and railroad drainage systems and Green Infrastructure/stormwater management facilities.
- Perform hydrologic watershed modeling.
- Develop hydraulic models for bridge and culvert replacements.
- Conduct bridge scour analyses and design scour countermeasures.
- Develop construction plans.
- Prepare environmental permit applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license in NY, NJ, and/or CT or the ability to obtain with reciprocity.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in stormwater engineering for roadway and/or rail projects preferred.
- Proficiency in MicroStation, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-RAS, Excel, Word.
- Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in Greater New York, New Jersey, and/or Connecticut.
- Experience securing permits from environmental agencies authorizing floodplain impacts, wetland impacts, and erosion & sediment control designs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Salary/Compensations
- $90,000 – $125,000
