About the Role

The Settlement Home for Children is seeking an Awake Night Staff member to ensure the safety of residents and campus. This role involves supervising youth, implementing cottage rules, maintaining cleanliness, documenting resident progress, and potentially using physical restraints after training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise conduct of youth, ensuring adherence to schedule and rules.
• Ensure residents get to bed on time and wake up on time.
• Implement and carry out cottage rules, schedules, and routines.
• Know the whereabouts of each resident at all times.
• Maintain cottage and individual cleanliness.
• Document cottage life, incidents, daily behavior, medical needs, and treatment observations.
• Use physical restraints with residents in specific situations, in accordance with training and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and TB test.
• Must have a criminal background clear of any offenses that would preclude employment in a licensed child care operation.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must have and maintain current auto liability insurance.

Skills

• Knowledge of applicable Licensing, Contract, and Program standards
• Physical ability to complete Emergency Behavioral Intervention training
• Ability to effectively use organization’s computer systems
• Ability to implement trauma-informed therapeutic approaches including TBRI® principles
• Willingness and ability to do restraints of residents (once trained)

Experience Level

• At least two (2) years of experience in a child care or child treatment role, preferably 24-hour child care.

Education Level

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some college in a human services, behavioral sciences or related field.
