About the Role

This senior, high-judgment role serves as the bridge between business operations and the modernization engineering team for the UOPS platform. The core responsibility is understanding the legacy system, validating its business relevance, and ensuring replacements function correctly.

Responsibilities

• Document required functionality, production usage, business rules, interfaces, reports, and dependencies for each modernization module using AI-assisted tooling.
• Determine which legacy programs, jobs, reports, and interfaces are still used and needed, and build the case for retiring unused components.
• Convert business requirements and legacy behavior into clear, testable solution requirements for engineers, including data mappings, business-rule specifications, acceptance criteria, and edge-case definitions.
• Run priority reviews with business stakeholders and translate operational pain points into modernization sequencing.
• Review reconciliation and parallel-run results from the business perspective to confirm behavior preservation and coverage of business-critical edge cases.
• Coordinate business user testing and provide sign-off for production cutovers.
• Serve as the communication link between the modernization team and business users, explaining changes, timelines, and safety measures.

Requirements

• 7+ years of business/systems analysis experience, including significant experience on large-scale order processing, fulfillment, or supply-chain systems.
• Experience with EDI, order processing, and shipment-confirmation processing for large-scale distribution or publishing operations.
• Experience using AI tools for discovery and documentation, with the judgment to validate AI output against real system behavior.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both business users and engineers.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into coding/solution requirements precise enough for direct implementation and test automation.
• Strong analytical writing skills to produce authoritative documentation of system behavior.
• The judgment to distinguish a true business rule from a historical implementation accident.
• Publishing-industry experience is preferred.
• Experience on a legacy-modernization, system-replacement, or platform-migration program is preferred.
• Exposure to legacy or mainframe-style environments (e.g., COBOL-era batch systems) is preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL is preferred.
• Familiarity with batch scheduling environments (AutoSys or similar) and overnight batch operations is preferred.
• Experience with warehouse management (WMS), 3PL, or drop-ship integration workflows is preferred.
• Experience coordinating user acceptance testing and production cutover approvals is preferred.
