About the Role

Shift Leaders provide direct support to children, youth, and adults, and offer functional support and coaching to staff, students, and volunteers during their shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support children, youth, and adults with ASD to participate in an in-Centre and community-based respite setting.
• Support staff in providing direct care to participants, including engagement, programming, personal care (toileting), and maintaining health and safety.
• Develop and support participants and staff in engaging in various interactive activities that align with recreational and individualized goals.
• Implement crisis management techniques using Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
• Manage groups by providing staff breaks, taking attendance, communicating with parents, providing feedback, and collaborating with the Shift Leader team.
• Participate in bi-weekly Shift Leader meetings.
• Plan programs, including client documentation, activity planning, outing planning, team building, and staff pairings.
• Ensure adequate materials (visual aids, programming materials, schedules) are available for the staff team each shift.
• Complete daily progress reports and other required documentation for each participant.
• Maintain regular contact with Supervisors/Manager regarding program issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work/office area.

Requirements

• Completion of secondary school.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience providing direct support to children, youth, or adults with ASD.
• Understanding of the principles of applied behaviour analysis.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and crisis management skills.
• Experience managing challenging behaviours using Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques.
• Valid CPR Level C Certification.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be reliable, dependable, and adaptable.
• Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.
• Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

• $26.50 plus 4% vacation pay
