About the Role

Base is seeking an individual to own a new, large-scale infrastructure hardware program from first prototype to volume production. This role is critical in driving the development and manufacturing of next-generation hardware, building on the company's expertise in power electronics, thermal design, and high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Build the program schedule, run reviews, and drive decisions to keep the plan on track.
  • Drive hardware development from prototype through engineering, validation, and industrialization into volume production.
  • Own build plans, part readiness, and design maturity down to the part number.
  • Coordinate sourcing of tier 1-3 components and qualify vendors.
  • Plan tooling capacity and hold internal and external teams accountable to cost targets, quality requirements, and delivery schedules.
  • Own and defend BOM cost.
  • Lead line bring-up, throughput, and yield, ensuring a smooth handoff to field installation teams.
  • Communicate critical information, including bad news and recovery options, to leadership early and proactively.

Requirements

  • Successfully carried a physical product from prototype to volume production (thousands of units or more).
  • Technical enough to arbitrate design decisions, read schematics and mechanical drawings, and understand engineering trade-offs.
  • Direct ownership of manufacturing and supply chain elements, including cost, tooling, quality, and capacity.
  • Working knowledge of hardware testing campaigns to validate performance and reliability.
  • Strong bias for hands-on and in-person collaboration, preferring factory floor work over status meetings.
