About the Role

The Staff Web Developer will serve as the senior technical leader for the architecture, data foundations, and systems integration of Harvey's web presence, ensuring it evolves with product velocity. This role owns the technical strategy for the Next.js and Sanity architecture, integrates the website with marketing and GTM systems, and establishes automation and testing practices. It offers a unique opportunity to build foundational systems at a fast-growing AI company with direct impact on company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of Harvey's web platform, including Next.js/Vercel, Sanity, and supporting services, focusing on reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Design and build data foundations and integration patterns connecting the website to marketing, analytics, CRM, and GTM systems.
  • Establish automation, CI/CD, preview/deploy tooling, and robust automated testing.
  • Set observability standards, including structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and alerting.
  • Lead the application of AI and ML to web workflows, acting as a bridge between product and web engineering.
  • Partner with Security and Infrastructure to enhance platform security without hindering developer experience.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a front-end-focused team through code and design reviews.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Web Development experience with deep back-end and systems expertise.
  • Proven track record of owning technical architecture at a staff level with scope and ambiguity.
  • Strong command of the modern web stack: React/Next.js, TypeScript, and server-side rendering.
  • Genuine back-end depth (Node, Python, or comparable).
  • Experience architecting and operating headless CMS and content platforms (Sanity, Contentful, or similar) at scale.
  • Proven experience building and operating reliable production systems: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and performance optimization.
  • Fluency with data infrastructure fundamentals: SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, queuing, API and webhook integration patterns.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production web experiences or content workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence across functions, and operate autonomously.
  • Vercel platform experience is a plus.
  • Marketing/GTM systems integration (HubSpot, Salesforce, Segment, analytics) is a plus.
  • SEO and web performance engineering experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience as the first or most senior engineer on a web platform team is a plus.
