About the Role

The Department Manager - DC manages and supports assigned team members to achieve business and operational objectives in safety, accuracy, production, and inventory control within the Distribution Center (DC). This role provides work direction and timely information to both the team members and leadership to help ensure overall operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and executing plans that align to meeting operational and organizational objectives.
  • Ensuring all team members follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for internal and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifying and resolving production and/or communication issues impacting operational success.
  • Implementing and executing processes for accurate inventory processing and customer delivery.
  • Assuring all team members work safely and addressing behaviors or conditions that increase safety risk.
  • Partnering with Loss Prevention, DC, and network leaders to address safety or security concerns.
  • Conducting safety training and providing proper tools and PPE for compliance with safety and physical security guidelines.
  • Interviewing, onboarding, and training team members.
  • Providing tools and resources for individuals and the team to achieve performance objectives and business goals.
  • Fostering the growth and development of all direct reports.
  • Building a positive culture prioritizing engagement, recognition, open communication, respect, and trust.
  • Addressing performance, attendance, behavior, and conduct issues through coaching, documentation, and corrective action in partnership with HR and senior leadership.
  • Employing logic and reasoning to make effective decisions or recommendations.
  • Managing time effectively, balancing floor presence with office time.
  • Participating in special projects and performing other related duties.
  • Being open and able to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience in a comparable operational environment or successful completion of Michaels’ Leadership Training program.
  • Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

Skills

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and WMS applications.
  • Experience with labor management systems (LMS) is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and change management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts in support of business needs or special projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner, maintain confidentiality and sustain a respectful workplace.

Salary/Compensations

  • $58,000.00 - $77,000.00
  • This position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus based on performance.
