About the Role
The Evening Triage Counselor provides crisis counseling and responsive care for youth ages 12-21, completing comprehensive assessments to identify immediate and long-term needs. This role also offers crisis counseling for families, information dissemination, and referral services.
Responsibilities
- Triage/ assessment and intake
- Assessment of substance use/abuse, problem gambling and other risk factors
- Individual and family crisis counseling/crisis intervention
- Referral readiness and referral
- Youth advocacy
- Case management
- Community outreach and networking with other agencies/ providers
- Parent group facilitation (research/science based curricula) as needed
- Transportation of clients, when required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Service or related field AND 2 years' experience OR equivalent combination
- A valid driver's license
Skills
- Counseling approaches and techniques
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent literacy and communication skills
- Knowledge of community resources
