About the Role

The Vice President, Strategy and Delivery will define core strategy for EQ’s Personal Bank and own execution through disciplined capital planning and delivery leadership. This role builds the strategic and delivery backbone of the Personal Bank, leading the divisional PMO, prioritizing capex investment, and driving overall business strategy to strengthen core profitability behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead 3-year core strategy for the Personal Bank across products, experience, and loyalty expansion
  • Act as strategic thought partner to business and product leaders, translating insight into clear priorities that align back to objectives and key results (OKRs) and measurable outcomes
  • Provide business management support to the EVP Personal banking and to the broader Senior Leadership Team, including the regular cadence of management meetings, presentations and various executive forums
  • Assess and prioritize core strategic programs taking them from concepts to fundable business cases
  • Prepare quarterly board materials on strategic progress, key decisions, and outlook, as well as monthly progress updates to business leaders, reinforcing transparency and accountability
  • Liaise with enterprise strategy and corporate development team to assess new business opportunities for the Personal Bank, including M&A activity
  • Lead loyalty expansion strategy across all products to ensure rewards are used efficiently and purposefully to drive profitable behaviours critical to achieving commercialization and strategic priorities
  • Chair and lead a new governance process for points usage, including proposal intake, evaluation criteria, and decision-making
  • Own planning and prioritization of all CapEx for the Personal Bank including leading an intake process with clear frameworks for evaluating proposals ahead of prioritization
  • Govern a capital allocation framework aligning investment with strategic priorities and expected outcomes, holding business leaders accountable to the business case commitments behind funded initiatives
  • Partner with Finance and Digital on budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing review of capex portfolio
  • Evaluate resource demand against available capacity across the Personal Banking, Enterprise Technology, and vendors and align divisional capex plans with enterprise roadmaps and constraints
  • Lead quarterly planning process (QBR) to oversee performance on projects and initiatives and ensure ongoing prioritization and allocation of resources and capital
  • Build and own the reporting against established OKRs as part of the quarterly planning process
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Digital, Enterprise Technology, Finance, Risk, and business lines
  • Influence and hold accountable senior stakeholders without direct reporting authority
  • Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and culture to strategic, capital, and delivery decisions, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • 10+ years in corporate strategy, delivery/portfolio management, and financial services or a comparably regulated industry
  • Experience building or scaling a PMO/delivery function, and leading and working in agile operating environments
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital planning, budgeting, and forecasting at a portfolio level
  • Proven people leadership, including building teams from the ground up
  • Ability to influence senior executives amid ambiguity
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check and credit check
