About the Role
Design the client experience for a new kind of law firm, Norm Law, which pairs excellent legal service with transparent, interactive, and modern software. As a Staff Product Designer on the Deployment Team, you will design practice-group-specific software to bring this experience to life, helping clients understand progress, partners deliver excellent service, and making complex legal work easier to navigate. This is a forward-deployed role requiring close collaboration with partners, clients, and engineers in a continuous design and delivery loop.
Responsibilities
- Lead product design for practice-group-specific software delivered by the Deployment Team.
- Join client and partner scoping conversations from day one.
- Turn ambiguous needs into clear workflows, prototypes, and product decisions.
- Design workflows that help clients and legal teams understand progress, make decisions, and move matters forward.
- Prototype in code or with AI-assisted tools to accelerate team learning.
- Work alongside Forward Deployed Engineers through implementation and QA, providing hands-on product and design feedback.
- Make high-quality product decisions under real client, technical, and time constraints.
- Partner with FDEs on the technical approach to realizing the target experience.
- Identify when client- or practice-specific solutions should become reusable product components or design-system patterns.
- Bring learnings from client delivery back to broader product, engineering, and design teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of product design experience, including ownership of complex B2B or enterprise product experiences.
- Strong interaction, visual, and systems design craft.
- Experience designing complex workflow, data-dense, or client-facing software.
- Comfort working through ambiguity without waiting for a perfect brief.
- Strong client-facing presence and ability to explain design decisions to senior stakeholders.
- Experience partnering directly with engineers from early scoping through implementation.
- Ability to move quickly without losing clarity, judgment, or product quality.
- Good taste, strong product judgment, and a bias toward making ideas concrete.
- Fluency with AI-assisted design, prototyping, and development tools.
- A portfolio demonstrating shipped product work, not only concepts or final mockups.
- Experience in a forward-deployed, solutions, consulting, agency, or other client-embedded environment (Bonus).
- Experience designing legal, financial, healthcare, or other expert professional workflows (Bonus).
- Experience designing collaboration tools or software that connects external users to complex internal workflows (Bonus).
- Comfort with Git, React, and version-controlled prototyping workflows (Bonus).
- Experience turning fast-moving product work into reusable components, interaction patterns, or design-system contributions (Bonus).
- Experience working at an early-stage or fast-growing company (Bonus).
