About the Role

As Director, Data Engineering within our Global Technology & Data Team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Colliers' enterprise data engineering strategy across a complex multi-cloud environment. You will lead the design, delivery, and operation of scalable data platforms and services that enable business transformation, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision making across North America and globally. This is an opportunity to leverage your expertise to help drive Colliers' next-generation data ecosystem, modernize our enterprise data platforms, and position the organization for continued innovation and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise data engineering strategy: Direct and scale a high-performing team of managers and data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Drive modern data platform delivery: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale data platforms, including microservices architectures, data mesh and data fabric capabilities, AI/ML pipelines, Agentic AI and GenAI workflows, document extraction services, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Champion technology roadmap and innovation: Partner with Enterprise Architecture, product leaders, vendors, and technology stakeholders to define and execute the long-term data engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with regional and global business objectives.
  • Establish operational excellence and DataOps practices: Define and enforce standards for DataOps, SDLC, CI/CD, data governance, security, documentation, code quality, and AI-enabled delivery methodologies to ensure scalable and reliable platform operations.
  • Ensure platform reliability and service excellence: Oversee the operational health, performance, and support of critical North American and global data products, driving incident management, platform availability, and adherence to enterprise service level agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

  • Degree and/or diploma in: Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience, preferably in: data engineering, data platform, cloud engineering, enterprise data architecture, or related technology leadership roles, including experience managing managers and technical professionals.
  • Proven experience in cloud-based data architecture and engineering: Deep expertise designing and scaling enterprise data platforms using Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Run, and Apigee.
  • Strong proficiency in modern engineering practices and tools: Experience with Kubernetes, particularly GKE, microservices architecture, enterprise APIs, serverless computing, infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD frameworks.
  • Strategic understanding of BI, analytics, and artificial intelligence: Knowledge of semantic data models, Looker, Power BI, machine learning pipelines, and AI-driven solutions that accelerate engineering delivery and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills: Ability to influence senior leaders, align cross-functional teams, translate technical strategy into measurable business outcomes, and build a strong culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Commercial real estate industry experience: Considered an asset.
