About the Role

The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased individuals, ensuring compliance with all laws and company policies. This role involves safe driving of company vehicles, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and professional interaction with families during a sensitive time.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive company-owned professional vehicles to perform "first call" transfers of deceased in accordance with local and state/provincial laws and company policies.
  • Follow processes for chain-of-custody, paperwork, and deceased identification.
  • Cooperate with first responders, Coroner, hospital staff, or Senior Living facility staff and accommodate their processes.
  • Professionally interact with bereaved family members during home transfers, exhibiting sensitivity and minimizing conversation.
  • Transfer soiled garments, bedding, or other materials following company procedures.
  • Enter deceased event information into proprietary software.
  • Transport caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes and assist with moving caskets.
  • Wash, vacuum, and clean vehicles to ensure presentability.
  • Fuel vehicles as necessary.
  • Follow safety guidelines and expenditure processes.
  • Maintain personal protective and transfer supplies in vehicles.
  • Identify and report vehicle engine or operating issues to management.
  • Drive vehicles for repair or inspection.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • At least one (1) year of work experience as a courier or driver.
  • Direct customer interaction experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights.
  • Ability to work on-call rotation for weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to drive in hazardous, heavy traffic, and weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills required.
