About the Role

The Emergency Response Agent (ERA) provides on-site emergency response, physical security, and protective services for corporate office locations, focusing on rapid incident response and situational awareness. This role supports baseline coverage and may be activated for specialized responses during elevated incidents or special events.

Responsibilities

  • Respond on-site within 90 to 120 seconds for critical incidents.
  • Maintain continuous situational awareness across the assigned site, identifying and responding to various emergencies.
  • Provide static, on-site protective coverage at the assigned office location.
  • De-escalate tense situations involving individuals or groups.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform first aid / medical response consistent with training and certification level.
  • Conduct area patrols in and around the site and report suspicious activity.
  • Communicate vulnerabilities and safety concerns promptly.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and management through incident reports and other administrative tools.
  • Coordinate with internal and external responders, including guard force, local law enforcement, EMS, and fire.
  • Assist the local Physical Security Manager (PSM) and site/contract leadership.
  • Prepare and submit daily activity and incident reports on time.
  • Promptly identify and escalate deficiencies, failures, and security gaps per established escalation procedures.
  • Maintain a low-key, on-site posture focused on observation, deterrence, and verbal engagement.
  • Reposition within the site as needed during elevated situations.
  • Support RST activation (typically 7 to 14 days) or ERT activation (immediate response for high-risk incidents).
  • May require operating a vehicle to transport the principal with the security team.
  • Assist with coverage schedules and team assignments to maintain minimum on-site redundancy.
  • Operate and maintain protective, operational, and communications equipment.
  • Complete initial and ongoing training in de-escalation, emergency response, compliance, physical fitness, medical response, firearms, and active-shooter response.
  • Maintain physical readiness and complete recurring recertification.
  • Assist with intelligence and other duties within the Command Post.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of executive protection or corporate security experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of military, law enforcement or high-end corporate security experience.
  • 3+ years of a security management background preferred.
  • Planning and surveillance experience.
  • Basic tactical experience in firearms.
  • Basic medical first aid training, AED; CPR certification required.
  • TCCC required.
  • EMT-B strongly preferred.
  • NREMT certification and state-issued EMT license strongly preferred.
  • Active state-issued armed security / concealed-weapons license as required for the assigned location.
  • Valid New York State Armed Guard Registration Card required.
  • Possession of a valid New York State Pistol License and authorization to carry a firearm while on duty required.
  • Must have completed all required New York state training for an armed security guard.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and a review of driving history.
  • Working knowledge of the New York, NY area.
  • Experienced in crisis response.
  • Daily capacity to perform rigorous physical tasks and handle lethal weapons safely under high-stress conditions.
  • Continued employment is strictly conditioned upon passing the company’s non-medical Physical Ability Test (PAT) and Firearms Qualification Test.
  • Proven ability to build credible, trusted relationships on assignment at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong security posture, maintaining composure with authorities, clients, team members, leaders, and public under urgency and pressure.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and composure when handling sensitive client- and firm-related matters.
  • Displays consistent professionalism and discretion and demonstrates strong engagement and reliability.
  • Ability to operate current security/communications technology and to adapt to new digital systems.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and able to adapt approach across different teams and business needs.
  • Exposure to stressful situations.
  • Rapid and effective decision-making during unusual situations or emergencies.
  • Work in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, using protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Work with multiple people of all ages and participate in physical activities and outdoor events.
  • Exposure to sensitive and confidential information.
  • Regular computer usage.
  • Close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking may require extended periods and involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
  • On occasion, perform stressful and physical activity when needed.
  • 24/7 availability to the client while on a task.
  • Held to professional standards to maintain a high degree of moral conduct and client safety.
  • Review publicly available online content and public information on social media platforms to ensure alignment with company professional standards.
