About the Role

The MEP Project Engineer will oversee and coordinate the work of subcontractors (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) for the upper roadway replacement of the Queensboro Bridge in New York, NY. This role is responsible for ensuring safety, MEP schedule, quality of work, and adherence to the project budget.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and coordinates the work of subcontractors regarding Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
  • Ensures project safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to budget.
  • Manages work among assigned trades for coordinated project operations and resolves local area problems.
  • Manages the overall site safety program and ensures subcontractor compliance with standards and safety codes.
  • Ensures strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Creates schedules, determines work sequencing, and develops recovery strategies to maintain project schedule, efficiencies, and budget.
  • Determines required out-of-sequence work in advance to maximize execution and completion of MEP systems.
  • Communicates with owners and engineers regarding field issues and investigates/resolves them.
  • Works with the Engineer on coordination efforts for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, equipment, and piping layouts.
  • Leads project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training, and punchlist processes for system acceptance and handover.
  • Develops coordinated plans, processes, and sequences for testing and commissioning utilizing tools to maximize efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post-offer drug test.
  • Must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, and solid presentation skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Highly effective writing, proofing, and editing abilities.
  • Able to interact with all facets of employees including Senior Managers and Executives.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building construction means and methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts related to business acumen, financial concepts, and various engineering related calculations.
  • High math aptitude is necessary for computer automation projects and logic.
  • Understanding of statistics and other higher level math is necessary.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of database software; AutoCAD; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, reporting tools related to databases.
  • Current driver's license.
