About the Role

St. Thomas More Preschool aims to provide students with a positive and enjoyable experience fostering intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual growth. The program is designed for the enrichment of the whole child and is licensed by the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Helps implement a meaningful learning experience by interacting with children in classroom activities and supporting the classroom teacher.
  • Follows lesson plans provided by the teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Manages the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Supervises students in and out of the classroom, including the playground and cafeteria.
  • Assists the teacher in setting up the classroom in the morning and afternoons.
  • Cleans tables after snacks and lunch, and sweeps the floors.
  • Participates in recommended training programs, courses, and other aspects of professional growth (24 hours of continuing education).
  • Assists in the daily cleaning of the classroom.

Requirements

  • Passion to influence the lives of pre-kindergarten children.
  • Patience in lovingly meeting young learners' spiritual, academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
  • Patience in accepting guidance and assignments from the classroom teacher.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
  • Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, equipment, etc.
  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak daily.
  • Required to monitor students in various locations, including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
  • Required to change diapers.
  • All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
  • The Parish is an at-will employer.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
  • Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required.
  • Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
  • Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
