About the Role
Canada Life is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join the Insurance Solutions team, supporting data management, analysis, and reporting. This role is crucial for supporting decision-making, monitoring business performance, and providing actionable insights through analytics and visualizations tailored to various audiences. The position offers collaboration with subject matter experts and data scientists, with an opportunity to become a subject matter expert in connected data and improve processes through data mining and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Build, implement, and maintain data models, custom reports, and dashboards for varied audiences.
- Create visually compelling presentations and use strong communication skills to present them to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to ingest data, prioritize data needs, and build data marts to drive efficiencies in reporting functions.
- Leverage data expertise to support new initiatives through analysis and ongoing reporting across the entire analytics lifecycle.
- Communicate requirements to the Technology team for development and ensure smooth deployment of data projects after performing data quality testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs.
- Support existing data owners in their data management practices, ensuring a single source of truth.
- Work with large datasets that may be inconsistent, unclean, or not fully modeled.
- Ensure best practices are followed with respect to data governance and structure.
- Communicate effectively while demonstrating critical thinking and business acumen.
Requirements
- University or College education in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with raw data and manipulating large datasets.
- Ability to work with diverse data inputs and build data marts aligned with business requirements.
- Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with little to no documentation or instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce high-quality outputs under tight timelines.
- Driven to continuously improve processes, performance, and efficiency.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract and integrate data from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of the organization, distribution channels, products, systems, and data is an asset.
