About the Role
This role will ensure the proper setup of meeting and banquet facilities and assist with the overall supervision of banquet setup.
Responsibilities
- Inspects each function room prior to the event to ensure client needs and hotel standards are met.
- Maintains contact with meeting planners to address last-minute requests and changes.
- Meets with banquet housepersons daily to ensure uniform codes and personal hygiene requirements are met.
- Reviews daily worksheet and assigns specific duties to banquet housepersons.
- Reviews daily Synergy report.
- Inspects function rooms before and during breaks to ensure daily worksheet requirements are met.
- Ensures walls, baseboards, and light fixtures are cleaned.
- Ensures rooms are vacuumed thoroughly.
- Ensures drapes are hung properly.
- Adjusts lighting and temperature control per client requests.
- Maintains cleanliness of Banquet meeting space and equipment.
- Ensures tablecloths and skirting are cleaned and pressed.
- Ensures uniformity among all setups.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of all storage areas.
- Organizes and maintains back-of-house areas for a productive, safe, and energy-conserving work environment.
- Initiates appropriate disciplinary action for housemen who commit infractions.
- Ensures all unused rooms are set to department standards.
- Executes Associate MOS reports monthly.
- Provides daily, weekly, and monthly performance feedback to associates.
- Recycles whenever possible.
- Complies with hotel standards, policies, and rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1-year banquet set-up experience is required.
- Previous supervisor/leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Must be familiar with various room sets and able to execute BEO specifications.
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
- Ability to work cohesively with co-workers.
- Able to work with management on special projects.
- Able to set priorities for the banquet set-up team and provide feedback.
- Must possess proven leadership skills and be able to direct, develop, and motivate staff.
- Ability to teach employees how to greet guests and solve requests courteously.
- Ability to think clearly, quickly, and make concise decisions.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
- Must be able to execute assigned room sets after a period of training.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
- Requires repetitive motion, using arms and hands for an extended period or for an entire shift.
