About the Role
The Front Desk Representative is the first point of contact for members and guests, delivering superior customer service while assisting with purchases and directing membership inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests warmly upon entry and exit.
- Answer incoming calls professionally and efficiently, transferring them to the appropriate department or individual.
- Check in members, verify memberships, and sign up members for group fitness or ultimate classes.
- Register prospective members and direct them to the membership department.
- Address member questions or direct them to the appropriate individual for assistance.
- Sell supplements, apparel, and other retail items.
- Process purchases using the point-of-sale system and provide accurate change.
- Maintain a professional image and behavior, avoiding non-work-related activities during work hours.
- Respond professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members, and staff.
- Provide information to members regarding special club events.
- Immediately report or escalate any unsafe conditions or emergency situations to management.
- Keep the front desk and lobby neat and clean at all times.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the front desk as assigned.
- Attend monthly or other scheduled meetings.
- Assist with inventory or product pricing as needed.
- Contact past-due members regarding late dues and down payments.
Requirements
- Must be energetic with a friendly, outgoing personality and positive attitude.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to multi-task with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be a team player with a can-do attitude.
- Adhere to meal and rest break periods and clock in/out for all shift times.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
- 6 months of customer service experience in a health club, retail, hospitality, or food service industry.
- Experience with multiple phone lines preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Required to stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand and remain on your feet for a full shift.
