About the Role
The New Museum is seeking a full-time Youth Programs Assistant to provide administrative and scheduling support for youth, school, and tours programs. This temporary, grant-funded role will be involved in implementing new teen initiatives, including the NewMu Teen Fellowship and Bowery Art Space drop-in program, as well as the School Partnership program and school tours.
Responsibilities
- Assist with administrative and scheduling duties for teen programs (NewMu Teen Fellowship and Bowery Art Space).
- Assist with administrative and scheduling duties for the tour program and School Partnerships, including teacher professional development and resource development.
- Process invoices and receipts, order program supplies, schedule field trips and artist visits, coordinate communications, and submit calendar requests.
- Maintain program statistics, documentation, evaluation, and grant reporting.
- Provide day-of support for teen and school programs, including sessions, events, field trips, and teacher professional development.
- Manage and organize supplies and onsite art spaces for teen and school programs.
- Coordinate logistics with other departments (external affairs, visitor services, security, facilities).
- Meet and sustain relationships with NYC school teachers and administrators.
Requirements
- BA or BFA in Fine Art, Art History, Art Education, or related field.
- One to two years of experience in art administration or art programming in a museum setting.
- Some knowledge of art practices and materials.
- Knowledge of contemporary art and artists.
- Experience working with NYC K-12 students, teachers, and administrators.
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Demonstrated success in generating and maintaining respectful communication with diverse groups.
- Language skills (Spanish or Mandarin) are a plus.
