About the Role
Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to support students in grades 6th-8th and 12th across both school building sites. The ideal candidate will empower students to become agents for change through community-focused leadership, character development, and college preparedness.
Responsibilities
- Makes initial and periodic evaluations of students' speech and language and rehabilitation needs.
- Provides speech therapy to students in a school setting.
- Administers speech and language therapy treatments using appropriate modalities and techniques.
- Sets long and short-term goals in measurable terms and adjusts treatment plans/IEPs accordingly.
- Instructs students and their parents/caretakers in activities for between-session practice.
- Submits necessary documentation for services provided.
- Makes recommendations for referrals to other disciplines when appropriate.
- Consults with other therapists, teachers, and the Director of Academic Intervention Services for joint decisions regarding therapy continuation or dismissal.
- Attends Parent-Teacher Conferences prepared to discuss students' academic growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Administration.
Requirements
- Master's degree required.
- Valid NYS Speech Language Pathology license and Certificate of Clinical Competency.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience.
- Must adhere to all speech therapy rules and regulations set forth by the NYS Department of Professional Regulations.
- An ability to work collaboratively.
- Spanish proficiency is preferred.
