About the Role
The Porter position involves maintaining and enhancing the property's curb appeal and assisting staff with property management. The role requires physical upkeep of the grounds and adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Transfer trash and other items into dumpsters, keeping dumpster doors closed.
- Perform "trash-out" duties at vacated apartments, removing abandoned furniture and trash.
- Assist with "make-ready" duties as requested.
- Perform work area clean-up and safety-related duties.
- Detail specific property areas including management office, laundry room, mail rooms, pathways, stairways, breezeways, dumpster areas, recreation areas, grounds adjacent to the road, walkways, exterior lighting fixtures, parking lots, and drives.
- Assist in keeping grounds neat and free of litter by raking, sweeping, and shoveling as needed.
- Clean and maintain storage and shop areas.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Maintenance Superintendent and Community Manager.
Requirements
- Experience in the multifamily industry is preferred.
- Previous experience in a maintenance, janitorial, or porter position is preferred.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time.
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Moderate knowledge of basic hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and paint rollers/brushes.
- Attention to detail in cleaning duties.
- Will be exposed to dirt, dust, and cleaning solvents and chemicals.
- Occasional overtime and/or weekend work may be required.
Skills
- Reading and writing English to understand warning/caution labels and written instructions.
- Basic hand tool proficiency.
