About the Role

Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is a tuition-free public charter school committed to empowering students through community-focused leadership, character development, and college preparedness. We seek candidates who are hardworking, flexible, innovative, and embody leadership traits.

Responsibilities

• Work in a collaborative team teaching or individual classroom setting
• Engage students in standard-aligned, active learning
• Cultivate a safe, welcoming and rigorous learning environment
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and improve student learning
• Utilize online student systems to track student progress
• Contribute to program design and implementation at grade level
• Participate in all staff programs and academic planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Work collaboratively with other staff and teachers daily
• Enforce and uphold school policies and culture
• Communicate effectively and maintain consistent relationships with students, colleagues, and families
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by Administration

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Valid NYS Teaching Certificate preferred
• At least one year of teaching experience in an urban environment preferred
• Spanish proficiency preferred but not required

• Expert in foundational reading, writing and math skills for elementary students
• Expert in socio-emotional needs for elementary students
• Strong commitment to success of all students, in academics, character and leadership development
