About the Role

Organizes and oversees the Food Service Department and all related activities at the assigned location within the Nuvance System, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and maintaining sanitary, attractive, and orderly environments.

Responsibilities

• Ensures day-to-day operations of the Food Services Department, including patient meal service, catering, and cafeteria operations.
• Assures compliance with regulatory agencies (NYSDOH, County DOH, JCAHO, DEC, CMS) and maintains a sanitary, attractive, and orderly department environment.
• Plans daily department work assignments and leads to ensure adequate coverage.
• Oversees patient meal delivery, monitoring food temperatures and presentation to meet standards.
• Ensures retail outlets utilize proper food handling, infection control, and sanitation practices, and maintains clean, organized service and dining areas.
• Communicates employee performance or behavior concerns to a supervisor and implements Human Resources policies.
• Assists with employee orientation, training, and education.
• Adheres to the department budget and coordinates operations within approved guidelines.
• Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment to meet department demands.
• Maintains clear communication within the department for effective operations and positive employee relations.
• Maintains current knowledge of developments by attending seminars and reviewing journals.
• Attends and participates in educational workshops scheduled by Nuvance.
• Exemplifies excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, doctors, and employees.
• Maintains and models Nuvance Health Values.
• Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Serve Safe Certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Some manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity required.
• Some occupational risk involved.
• Medium to Heavy physical effort; may exert up to 35 lbs. force.
• Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
