About the Role

Responsibilities
- Identify and assess Ontario-based direct and indirect exporters with high potential, particularly in advanced manufacturing and technology sectors within defense and security, or aerospace, or those capable of serving them.
- Act as a supply chain specialist by gaining in-depth knowledge of qualified Ontario companies to offer them sourcing opportunities and connect them with prime contractors, tier-one suppliers, strategic buyers, and trusted partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships within the Ontario ecosystem, including industry players, government bodies, financial institutions, associations, innovation agencies, and other partners, to help clients integrate, establish, and grow within supply chains.
- Assess needs for export financing, risk management, or other solutions and find appropriate ones.
- Manage the assigned account portfolio and develop territorial strategies and account plans.
- Facilitate transactions and manage the progression of designated portfolios.
- Execute projects and initiatives and perform tasks related to market coverage mandate.
- Develop market coverage strategies and account plans that align client capabilities with sector priorities, sourcing programs, buyer requirements, and supply chain gaps.
- Serve as a point of contact to resolve issues for current or potential clients by managing negotiations and interactions positively and professionally.
- Create business development opportunities in Ontario and abroad for medium and large enterprises in the defense and security sub-sector, particularly concerning advanced manufacturing, aerospace, dual-use technologies, and other related capabilities.
- Plan and manage schedule effectively while identifying, evaluating, and recruiting potential clients and qualified leads.
- Gather and share market intelligence (sourcing priorities, buyer requirements, supply chain gaps, required certifications, and potential partners) to generate leads and tailor solutions to client needs.
- Promote, sell, and close new business development agreements for a range of products, services, and solutions to current or new clients.
- Form partnerships and facilitate connections within various ecosystems to complement EDC's solutions and accelerate client integration into Canadian and international supply chains.
- Maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain fruitful long-term relationships within a given region or sector.
Requirements
- Undergraduate university degree in business administration, finance, commerce, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in business development and commercial lending within international trade or financial services.
- Experience with bilateral, syndicated, and M&A transactions.
- Experience in financing and managing transactions across the capital structure.
- Knowledge of best practices in strategic selling or account management.
- Established network in the Greater Toronto Area relevant to achieving EDC's mandate.
- Established ability to develop sector ecosystems, build strategic partnerships, create business opportunities for companies, and connect them with buyers, prime contractors, and suppliers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
