About the Role

Whitley Penn's internship program offers students hands-on experience in public accounting, working alongside professionals and leaders. Interns gain exposure to daily responsibilities, contribute to client engagements, and are encouraged to learn, collaborate, and make an impact. The program focuses on building confidence, strengthening technical and leadership skills, and preparing interns for future career opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in client engagements and gain real-world experience supporting tax compliance and consulting projects.
  • Prepare tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts.
  • Work alongside experienced team members and firm leaders to deliver tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of tax disciplines, including federal income tax planning, corporate taxation, state and local taxation, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and international tax matters.
  • Build your professional network through interactions with clients and colleagues across a variety of industries.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting with an anticipated graduation date of December 2028 or May 2029.
  • Available to participate in the internship from January through April 2028 (flexibility with course schedules as needed).
  • Plan to be CPA-eligible within 18 months of completing your internship.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to learn.
  • Thrive in a collaborative team environment while taking initiative and ownership.
  • Flexible and able to work onsite at client locations as needed.
  • Register using a non-university email address.
  • Submit a current resume.
