About the Role
Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and participates in the day-to-day operations of social services programs, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Prepares client and statistical records/reports, builds relationships with community agencies, and serves as an advocate for clients. Performs clerical and secretarial duties and researches and writes grants.
Responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and supervises the day-to-day duties of assigned staff.
- Trains and instructs employees in proper methods and procedures.
- Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Provides input to performance evaluations and the interview process.
- Interviews applicants to determine eligibility for program enrollment.
- Conducts needs assessments and establishes program goals for eligible clients.
- Refers applicants to other agencies if not appropriate for the program.
- Develops client intake and case plans.
- Instructs clients in completing necessary paperwork.
- Completes social history on new clients.
- Meets regularly with clients to discuss and evaluate progress.
- Prepares accurate and up-to-date records documenting client progress.
- Monitors client behavior, group attendance, medication, and movement.
- Receives incident reports and enforces disciplinary actions.
- Refers clients to appropriate Corps programs or other agencies.
- Completes discharge plans for clients exiting the program.
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates group and individual crisis intervention sessions.
- Plans group activities and focus.
- Provides group participants with information offered by other community services.
- Performs community education speeches.
- Encourages client responsibility for the upkeep of their living quarters.
- Supports client efforts and praises them for self-help.
- Serves as an advocate for clients with other agencies.
- Prepares and maintains case records and logs on all assigned clients.
- Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided.
- Compiles and prepares monthly statistical reports.
- Prepares monthly financial reports for donated budgets.
- Prepares various correspondences and completes paperwork necessary for program operations.
- Prepares and maintains office records, reports, calendars, databases, journals, books, logs, lists, etc.
- Updates, posts, and indexes information and inputs data into the computer.
- Researches office files to locate specific information.
- Prepares and proofs various routine reports.
- Answers telephone courteously and tactfully.
- Schedules appointments.
- Greets and assists employees and visitors.
- Provides accurate information regarding office operations and services.
- Attempts to resolve complaints calmly and courteously.
- Performs routine filing of correspondence, forms, records, reports, and documents.
- Maintains files in an organized and efficient manner.
- Photocopies and shreds various items.
- Performs clerical and secretarial support for special projects, seasonal events, and meetings.
- Prepares mail merges.
- Serves as liaison to other agencies for prevention, assessment, and treatment for chemical dependency.
- Obtains/coordinates assistance on client’s behalf.
- Builds and maintains professional working relationships with community agencies.
- Participates in meetings to educate the public and network with social service agencies.
- Promotes a positive image of The Salvation Army and the Home Sweet Home Program.
Requirements
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Valid State Driver's License.
