About the Role

Oversees and directs the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the bed board and assists with movement of staff during high discharge activity.
• Assists with assigning workers their duties and ensures that quality standards are met by inspecting completed work.
• Investigates, documents, and reports all unusual occurrences/complaints to the Environmental Services Manager and takes corrective action.
• Coordinates conference room set ups and work activities among departments.
• Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Assists with guiding, directing and motivating staff.
• Assists with Environment of Care Rounding.
• Assists with Performance Improvement and Infection Control programs.
• Assists with interviewing applicants, orientation training, inservice training, and maintains records of the training programs.
• Ensures equipment is in good repair and tested regularly.
• Assists with schedule, sign-in sheets, payroll and completing performance evaluations.
• Monitors linen usage.
• Assists in development and implementation of department policies and procedures and standards of work.
• Makes recommendations to improve services and ensure more efficient operation within facility to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs.
• Performs cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortages.
• Assists with meeting compliance with JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations.
• Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and JCAHO regulations.
• Maintains and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Maintains a cohesive rapport with physicians, departments and staff.
• Coaches and develops others to improve their knowledge or skills.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
• Attends committee meetings as appropriate.
• Provides flexibility of the management team, and provides management coverage during vacation times and unscheduled PTO days.
• Performs all other assigned duties as called upon.

Requirements

• Requires light physical effort on a regular basis, as in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching.
• Periodic eye or ear strain included in this level.
• Frequent lifting of moderately heavy items (i.e., 20-40 lbs).
• Work demands may impose home and social life inconvenience, even though predictable on most occasions.
• Regular volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.
• Frequent exposure to occupational hazards or contagious disease which require routine precautions.
• Significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity.
• Significant occupational risk.
• Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force.
• Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Experience Level

Education Level

• Preferred one year of college or specialized post-high school training in such areas as Environmental Management courses where education credits have been received, and/or Certificate(s) of Achievement specific to Housekeeping.
• Certification from NEHA or Environmental Management Association.

Salary/Compensations

• $26.48 - $50.49 Hourly
