About the Role
Clay is seeking technical leaders to drive business outcomes and impact across the engineering organization. You will leverage your technical expertise to shape strategic direction, execute complex projects, and elevate team effectiveness. Your role will involve shaping architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving process improvements for efficiency and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical strategy for your domains.
- Execute projects that are messy, ambiguous, or technically complex.
- Influence engineers through teaching, mentoring, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Serve as a role model for ownership, technical designs, implementation, and company culture.
- Shape architecture.
- Mentor engineers.
- Drive process improvements.
Requirements
- Have had an outsized impact in previous roles, such as creating leverage for an EPD organization, building foundational systems, launching new products, or bringing deep frontend and UX expertise.
- Experience working at startups and scale-ups, comfortable building for continually growing scale.
- Excellent product intuition and ability to think broadly about technical decisions' impact on end-user experience.
- Empathetic communicator, expressing nuanced ideas clearly for different audiences.
- Prioritize curiosity over confrontation in disagreements.
- Familiarity with the current tech stack or ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
