About the Role

The Retail and Markets Associate is the "face" of the brand, serving as the primary point of contact for community members. This role involves managing the farm store, which offers locally sourced merchandise, baked goods, and fresh cheeses and salads. The associate ensures efficient and profitable store operations, aligning with Farmhouse Table's standards and sustainability goals. On market days, they are responsible for all aspects of market operations, representing the brand and promoting its mission and values.

Responsibilities

Partner with Retail Management to create a welcoming farm store experience and oversee shop operations.
Maintain accurate inventory of all store products.
Communicate inventory needs and suggestions to Retail Manager for ordering.
Ensure all products are properly stored, rotated, packaged, labeled, and attractively displayed.
Oversee all point-of-sale operations including transactions, billing, refunds, discounts, and reconciliation.
Setup, maintain, and clean self-serve beverage stations and bakery display.
Prepare and package simple menu items including beverages, soups, and salads.
On market days, package, transport, setup & breakdown the market tent and displays, act as point-of-sales representative, and promote the Farmhouse Table Mission and Values.

Requirements

1-3 years’ experience in inventory management, sales, agritourism, farm markets, farm retail sales, or related enterprises.
Experience with point-of-sale systems (Square preferred).
Experience with inventory management, stocking, or product merchandising is preferred.
Strong Organizational Skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience working with seasonal agricultural products is highly valued.
Ability to solve customer needs with flexibility, positivity, and professionalism.
Ability to multitask with excellent communication and strong customer service skills.
Comfort working with perishable goods, seasonal products, and local food systems.
Time management skills and schedule flexibility.
Basic proficiency or ability to learn technology including POS systems.
English speaking, writing, and reading proficiency.
Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
Traveling to markets (car).
Ability to lift 40 pounds independently and with regularity.
Repetitive use of hands for stocking, packaging, and POS operations.
Comfort working in quiet environments and being alone in the shop.
Comfort working in busy and/or loud environments with many people around.
Comfort working in a seasonal open air market and various weather conditions.
Frequent interaction with community members, families, and customers of all abilities.
