About the Role

The Senior Customer Engineer is a Full-Stack Engineer responsible for the technical direction and implementation of all of Abel & Cole's customer-facing technologies. This role involves hands-on software development, technical leadership, and contribution to systems architecture, shaping and implementing best practices for a smooth Software Development Lifecycle across a broad range of products. It's an excellent opportunity for an engineer to expand their expertise across web, mobile, and supporting technologies.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain customer-facing products, including websites and mobile apps using Next.js and React Native.
Integrate REST APIs using typed, code-generated (OpenAPI/Swagger) clients.
Contribute to backend APIs (.NET), extending, updating, and maintaining endpoints.
Own features end-to-end, from technical design through delivery, release, and monitoring.
Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance, setting coding standards, architectural direction, and best practices.
Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues.
Champion best practices in development, DevOps, and security.
Maintain and improve app store releases and multi-environment builds.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize the roadmap, balancing new feature delivery with service consistency.
Mentor mid- and junior-level engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA in an agile team.
Evaluate and recommend new tools or frameworks to improve team velocity or system capability, and monitor framework developments.

Requirements

Significant commercial experience as a full-stack engineer with strong TypeScript.
Proven experience with React and React Native, including shipping apps to the App Store and Google Play.
Experience building web applications with Next.js or strong React web experience.
Solid understanding of consuming REST APIs.
Experience with state management using React Context and hooks.
Strong automated testing habits (Jest, React Testing Library).
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Familiarity with Agile practices and their relation to the Software Development Lifecycle.
