About the Role
SOM, a leading design firm, seeks an innovative Senior Designer, Interiors to join their collaborative practice and build a strong career.
Responsibilities
- Creates and innovates with strong conceptual design ability, integrating interdisciplinary criteria for distinct portions of large projects or entire small-scale projects.
- Demonstrates advanced understanding of interior and architectural building materials, finishes, systems, specifications, codes, detailing standards, and construction techniques.
- Enriches design concepts through technical strategies and uses appropriate tools for research, design, and documentation.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of interior architecture and design, including workplace planning, concept development, documentation, construction administration, and FF&E selection.
- Manages personal and team workload to meet project deadlines, guiding and teaching less experienced staff.
- Inspires and leads others by example, participates in staff mentoring and training, and delegates appropriately.
- Collaborates with team members to achieve project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
- Actively engages in internal professional development opportunities.
- Contributes to the implementation of sustainable strategies and staff knowledge development.
- Contributes to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Protects SOM from financial and legal risk.
Requirements
- Professional degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design.
- Professional licensure process close to completion; LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles, including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with BIM and Revit Tools.
- Demonstrates practical understanding of digital tools such as Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Navisworks, Ladybug, Enscape, VR, ADOBE Suite, etc.
- Actively supports compliance with BIM/CAD project standards and procedures.
- Portfolios must be submitted for all design and project management positions.
- Applications without work samples will not be reviewed.
- Portfolios should be one PDF attachment, 10-20 pages, maximum 5 MB.
