For 80 years, we have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere.
Responsibilities
- Develop students’ Individualized Education Plans
- Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals/objectives from all disciplines of each student's IEP
- Implement and monitor behavior and classroom management plans/techniques when necessary
- Develop and adhere to an established daily schedule making daily modifications/adjustments as required
- Maintain communication with classroom team, parents and program directors regarding students' performance
- Develop lesson plans incorporating the IEP goals and objectives for each student
- Reinforce appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques
- Establish, communicate and monitor clear expectations for both students and classroom staff
Requirements
- Initial NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Birth – Grade 2 or Special Education Permanent
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
- Individual without a Master’s degree must demonstrate plans to obtain a master’s degree within a five-year timeframe
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may be hired initially, as New York State allows individuals with an Initial Certification to teach while completing their Master’s degree within a five-year timeframe
