About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to join our team at Quisqueya Pharmacy! As a pharmacist in charge, you will be receiving incoming prescriptions, reviewing them for accuracy, and filling them with the correct medicine and dose. You will also be talking with customers to help them understand their medications and possible side effects, advising them on medication storage, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The ideal Pharmacist candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is familiar with pharmaceutical best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescriptions, compound, and sell pharmaceuticals, medicines, and related drug items.
  • Maintain proper records for the purchase and dispensing of all prescription drugs, including controlled substances.
  • Manage medications, ensuring appropriate handling and safety.
  • Remove misbranded, adulterated, outdated, or improperly labeled drugs from stock.
  • Ensure proper storage of drugs to prevent loss or deterioration.
  • Ensure pharmacy coverage by licensed pharmacists.
  • Prevent unauthorized refills of prescriptions and unauthorized sales of legend drugs.
  • Ensure security of the dispensing and compounding area against unauthorized entry.
  • Provide patient support and education, maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Perform all tasks expected of a licensed professional in this field.
  • Maintain professional license status and continuing education credentials.
  • Ensure that no prescription drugs or devices are sold at wholesale unless the pharmacy possesses a New York State Board of Pharmacy wholesaler registration.
  • Ensure the pharmacy is properly registered and operating in accordance with all laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Issue notices to employees and subordinates regarding pharmacy practice laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Manage all day-to-day pharmacy operations, including staffing, safety, maintenance, and compliance with mandatory regulations.
  • Classified as an exempt employee.
  • Schedules may fluctuate to accommodate staffing and extended days off.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current state pharmacist license or degree.
  • Bilingual Spanish Speaker, Required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed.
