About the Role

Support laboratory operations, supervise staff, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on laboratory testing and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations and ensure quality services
  • Supervise testing and assist staff with specialized and bench testing
  • Train, orient, and evaluate laboratory personnel and competency
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards
  • Oversee quality control programs and prepare monthly QC reports
  • Monitor testing performance, turnaround times, and quality indicators
  • Investigate non-conformances and initiate corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate supply orders
  • Support laboratory software, instrument interfaces, worksheets, and reporting
  • Prepare payroll, timesheets, departmental goals, and reports
  • Participate in performance improvement projects and committees
  • Support recruitment and interview processes
  • Maintain effective communication with laboratory leadership and staff
  • Promote patient and employee safety
  • Stay current with regulatory requirements and professional practices

Requirements

  • 4+ years of clinical laboratory experience required
  • Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
  • ASCP Histotechnician certification preferred
  • NCA certification preferred
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
