About the Role
Perform laboratory testing across assigned disciplines while ensuring accurate results, quality control, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. AP/Histology experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory testing
- Follow established testing procedures and maintain accurate records
- Perform quality control, calibrations, equipment verification, and maintenance
- Identify testing issues and initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Evaluate results, identify abnormalities, and follow established protocols
- Report and document critical values while meeting STAT turnaround requirements
- Participate in proficiency testing, validations, competency assessments, and audits
- Maintain laboratory inventory, including lot numbers, expiration dates, and QC requirements
- Support regulatory readiness and compliance with CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission standards
- Complete required training, education, and competency requirements
- Perform testing in applicable areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and Anatomic Pathology/Histology
Requirements
- AP/Histology experience required
- Current NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
- NYS Histotechnologist license required for Anatomic Pathology
- ASCP certification preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow regulatory standards
