About the Role
The Regional Sales Manager – West is responsible for developing, implementing, executing, and measuring the annual retail strategy for the region, aligning with marketing and sales initiatives. This role leads a team of District Sales Managers, developing and managing resource prioritization consistent with sales strategies and goals.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Regional Team’s execution against corporately defined priorities, ensuring product presence at the point of sale through maintenance and distribution.
- Develops District Sales Managers through tracking performance against objectives and arranging targeted training.
- Accountable for the performance development process, including performance reviews and development plans for the District Sales Management team.
- Works in the field with District Sales Managers regularly and tracks performance against objectives, conducting weekly field visits.
- Collaborates with the Retail Operations team to ensure regional field teams have optimal tools and equipment.
- Implements and ensures robust field process controls, including self-reported data, trade spend, waste spend, car stock, and premiums.
- Works in collaboration with the Retail Sales and Training Capability Manager to ensure execution of yearly training, onboarding, and compliance to organizational training requirements.
- Establishes and maintains sound business relationships with the trade and Mars Wrigley Account Managers.
- Is an active and visible member of the Retail Leadership Team.
- Collaborates with Sales/Finance/Marketing areas in effective daily operating matters within the Region.
- Communicates strategies and objectives to District Sales Managers and Retail Representatives through consistent “work with” programs and annual Sales Team Meetings.
- Completes all assigned reports in a timely manner.
- Ensures company policy/procedure for credits and samples are followed.
- Coordinates and provides input into annual performance reviews, including development plans for skill enhancement.
- Completes annual merit process for the assigned Region.
- Ensures that sales costs are maintained within operational budget.
- Exercises sound judgment when incurring business expenses.
- Exercises proper care in handling all company property and equipment, including company vehicle if applicable.
- Controls investment levels associated with the field, including samples.
Requirements
- University degree with 5+ years of CPG experience
- Previous sales experience at the retail/account level
- Experience leading a team of direct reports
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Able to travel 25% of the time
